SNOW . .. . .... . . .. .. . . . .. . .

In an old 'London Magazine (1961 -1985)' I recently stumbled on the following Philip LARKIN poem:

Come to Sunny Prestatyn
Laughed the girl on the poster,
Kneeling up on the sand
In tautened white satin.
Behind her, a hunk of coast, a
Hotel with palms
Seemed to expand from her thighs and
Spread breast-lifting arms.

She was slapped up one day in March.
A couple of weeks, and her face
Was snaggle-toothed and black-eyed;
Huge tits and a fissured crotch
Were scored well in, and the space
Between her legs held scrawls
That set her fairly astride
A tuberous cock and balls

Autographed Titch Thomas, while
Someone had used a knife
Or something to stab right through
The moustached lips of her smile.
She was too good for this life.
Very soon, a great transverse tear
Left only a hand and some blue.
Now Fight Cancer is there.

From someone (who me?) who couldn't write poetry to save their life, let alone attempt to emulate Larkin:

no comment...

Suitably amused, I sent it to a friend who, after attending a reunion (and requesting anonymity), responded with:

Hello there - isn’t it Paul?
Come right in out of the cold
Familiar faces from distant places
But the years had been cruel to them all
The drink help ease the silence
Then the memories came flooding back
And the discussion of Charlie’s operation,
Ongoing issues with his scrotal sack.

I thought this was all far behind me
A well closed chapter from my past
People I would not even email
Yet, here I was sharing a glass
Who said time was a healer
Most were like barrage balloons
Simon had never felt better
And he puts it all down to the prunes.

As Jeremy tucked into his turkey
A smile was forced for the lens
Have you ever found me on facebook
I now drive a Mercedes Benz
Robin was loud, like his wife
He had battled with his cancer scare
Everyone so full of life
Yet death loomed everywhere

....ditto! (except I reckon the penultimate line should read: "All bloated and busting with (or merely 'oozing') wealth..." ) ). Well, you should've seen the photos!

Bored to the bones with normal TV-trash? Then why not click on the link below for John Pilger's latest masterpiece of independent investigative journalism - and

John Pilger's new film THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE, about the media and how it beats the drums for war, is an impressive investigation exposing western media collusion with UK, US & Israel politicians/governments - in both past and ongoing atrocities/wars.

Impressive it is, but it fails to dig into how the most prominent media recruit their 'journalists' and commentators. How many of them, for instance, are agents of MI5/6, the CIA (as media bosses traditionally are) - or Mossad even? The pressures that journalists are under is touched-on.... but a whole series of documentaries would be required to address these issues comprehensively. Any omissions/shortcomings, though, in no way diminish the value of this compelling film.

STRIKE NOW!!! First their banks grab the kitty, now they make you fork-out for your own training - you the slaves who operate the factories and offices of the corporate/business elite. Ask yourself: why do they recruit graduates? Might it just be so their outfits can profit more from you than from non-graduates?

As ever, the principal aim of the elite (corporate and otherwise), their politician stooges, their vast media propaganda stratagem, indeed the whole corrupt Establishment whose heel we live under, is to grab ever more profit, power and control. . . which means: keeping as many of us as possible as enslaved, as poor, as downtrodden and as ignorant as possible!

What rational alternative conclusion could anyone draw? WAKE UP! Click here and help WikiLeaks challenge the bastards who ru(i)n the world...

Nicked from ICH:
"The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues, and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else....Their purpose, in brief, is to make docile and patriotic citizens, to pile up majorities, and to make John Doe and Richard Doe as nearly alike, in their everyday reactions and ways of thinking, as possible." - --H. L. Mencken - (1880-1956) American Journalist, Editor, Essayist, Linguist, Lexicographer, and Critic

'One of the hallmarks of an authoritarian government is its fixation on hiding everything it does behind a wall of secrecy while simultaneously monitoring, invading and collecting files on everything its citizenry does.  Based on the Francis Bacon aphorism that "knowledge is power," this is the extreme imbalance that renders the ruling class omnipotent and citizens powerless.'
Glenn Greenwald (see: ICH )

Until any data should appear that suggests Julian Assange is not the amazing hero he seems, we should support him & his crew & any other organisation that aspires to similar ends. We hope Assange has set a trend that will grow exponentially: a world of whistle-blowers!

The key thing to bear in mind is that to expose the lies and clandestine brutality of the political/corporate elite (or their stooges) represents a major shift towards attenuating their unbroken rule/control.

If you want to know the truth of what's going on in the world: Always look at least one step ahead, be suspicious of the obvious, and expect the worst of those in charge (the higher you go the more lethal they get)... in politics, going by experience, the opposite of what we are told is most frequently the truth. One of Pilger's favourite quotes (see above linked interview) goes: "Never believe anything until it's officially denied."
